Artists opened our eyes to Wicker Park

The Flat Iron Arts building at 1579 N. Milwaukee Avenue is home to the Around the Coyote Art Festival, and has been a haven for artists for decades. This historic terra cotta structure was the anchor point for the Chicago art community to firmly set its roots into the Wicker Park neighborhood. Over the last 15 years, an abundance of art galleries, music venues and theatres has grown up around it. Today the Flat Iron building houses a large number of sculptors, painters and mixed media artists.

The Around the Coyote Festival is a three-day festival showcasing local painters, photographers, filmmakers, dancers and poets. Around the Coyote supports, promotes and makes accessible Chicago’s multidisciplinary arts community by providing creative outlets for emerging artists.
